Even when large amounts of raw scallops are ingested, plasmalogene is not easily extracted from the digestive tract and its blood concentration cannot be increased. It is believed that the ingestion effect (increase in blood concentration) will appear only when plasmalogene obtained by a special extraction method is orally ingested.
